History

One step ahead from the beginning

1974

URSAPHARM is founded. Starting as a distribution unit for ophthalmics, the way was paved for a company with a nationwide and global operation.

1976

URSAPHARM broadens its business activities. The creation of an innovative production unit for the manufacture of eye drops and eye ointments was a further milestone on URSAPHARM’s road to success.

1979

URSAPAHRM updates its production unit. A modern unit for the production of solid dosage forms (tablets and granulated powders) was established.

1984

Products for general medicine, such as enhancers of blood circulation, enzymes, and minerals, complete the portfolio of URSAPHARM.

1993

The highly innovative COMOD® system is developed. With this, URSAPHARM found a way to maintain the sterility of liquid dosage forms in a multidose unit during long-term use without adding potentially harmful preservatives.

1997

The 3K® pump, a non-airless container system, proved its value as a preservative-free multidose container especially suitable for nasal administration.

1999

HYLO-COMOD®, a medical device based on a hyaluronic acid solution, was introduced onto the German market. This was the beginning of the development of a broad range of artificial tears, enabling individualised treatment of dry eyes.

2008

In Germany, the reimbursement of treatment costs for the application of HYLO®-GEL for specific indications was accepted. It was the first time that a medical device for the treatment of dry eye syndrome had been added to the list of products reimbursed by health insurance funds.

Outlook

As in the past, URSAPHARM will in the future continue to be a reliable partner in public health care. This is closely connected with our aim to contribute to improving the quality of life of patients.
